Lorene Cooke

Lorene Francis Cooke, 83 years of age, of Concord, passed away Friday, October 18, 2013 at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast in Concord. Mrs. Cooke was born October 10, 1930 in China Grove to the late Marshall Travis Austin and the late Hattie Marjorie Austin . She was also preceded in death by sister, Thelma Hedrick; sister, Myrtle Wallace; sister, Zula Gardner; brothers, Fairley, Wayne, Charlie, Melvin, Sanford, and John Henry Austin . The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm, Monday, October 21, 2013 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord. The funeral service will be on Monday at 2:00 pm at the funeral home in Concord officiated by Rev. Darrell Brumfield. Burial will follow at the Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. Survivors include daughter, Denise Cooke Blackburn of Linden, NC; grandson, Staff Sgt. Jarret Marshall Barnes of Fairfield, CA at Travis Air Force Base; grandson, Phillip Daniel Barnes of Denver, CO; brother, Kenneth Rupert Austin of Concord, NC.
