Lorraine Margaret Kirkingburg

Lorraine Margarete Fox Lane Kirkingburg, 99, of Albemarle, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at home surrounded by her loving family.

Lori was born September 23, 1925, in New York to the late William Louis Fox and the late Violet Barrett Fox. 

She was also preceded in death by husbands, Wilbur Lane and Richard Kirkingburg; four sisters, Wilma Estey, Jeanneta Kearns, Violet Darling and Carol Fox; and three brothers, Herbert Fox, Robert Fox and William Fox. 

The family will receive friends from 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm, Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Christ Episcopal Church of Albemarle. A memorial service will follow at 3:30 pm in the church sanctuary officiated by Reverend Chipper Long and Father James Bernacki. 

Lorraine retired from Eastman Kodak in 1982. She was a faithful member of Christ Episcopal Church and served on many outreach programs, including Oasis, meals on wheels, nutritional meals, and Christmas dinners. She was also the chairperson for the Laryngectomy Support Group and board member of Stanly Adult Day Care, plus a helper for the nursing home ministry at Christ Episcopal Church. 

Survivors include daughter, Margarete "Marty" (Robert) Volkmar of New York; sons, Larry (Michelle) Goessens of Oklahoma, Roy Lane of New York, Phillip (Tammy) Lane of Texas, Brian Lane of North Carolina; stepson, Richard (Patricia) Kirkingburg of New York; stepdaughter, Terri (Chris) Smith of New York; sister, Beverly Jacobs of Tennessee; sisters-in-law, Nancy Leitner of New York and Lois Fox of North Carolina; fourteen grandchildren, twenty nine great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.
