Louise Barbee

Louise Barbee, age 84 passed away on January 25, 2011 at Lutheran Home in Albemarle. Funeral service will be Friday, January 28 at 2 PM at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. Dr. Wayne Bennett will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends after the burial in the church fellowship hall. At other times the family will be at the home of daughter Debbie Love, 16272 Hazard Road, Oakboro, NC. She was born in Durham, NC on August 26, 1926. She was a daughter of the late Spurgeon Vaniel Barbee and the late Mary Eugenia Howell Barbee. She was also preceded in death by her husband, JT Barbee in 1998. A member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, she worked as a dietary aide for the Lutheran Home as well as a bookkeeper for Service Distributing. She is survived by sons, Jeff Barbee and wife Angela of Oakboro, NC and Andy Barbee and wife Kim of Columbia, SC; daughters, Tonda Barbee Grimmett and husband Jimmy of Hubert, NC and Debbie Barbee Love and husband Tim of Oakboro, NC; a brother, Spurgeon Barbee of Aberdeen, NC; and two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Berry of Hillsborough, NC and Lillian Dry of Locust, NC; 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Lutheran Home of Albemarle, 24724 US Hwy 52 S, Albemarle, NC 28001, or Hospice of Stanly County, 960 North 1st Street, Albemarle, NC 28001.
