Louise Smith

Carrie Louise Freeman Smith, 92, of 8401 Reed Mine Road, Midland, NC, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2011, at Avante of Concord, NC. Mrs. Smith was born February 8, 1919, in Mecklenburg County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee “Bob” Smith; father, Gilmer Price Freeman; and mother, Aurora Bessie Cathey Freeman. She was a member of Locust Presbyterian Church and retired from Cabarrus Memorial Hospital (CMC-NE) as a nurse assistant. The family visitation will be 6 – 8 p.m., Monday, March 21, at Hartsell Funeral Home, Midland. The funeral will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, at Locust Presbyterian Church, and she will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Rev. Dr. Mack Seigmon and Rev. Dr. Amy Seigmon will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Survivors include sons, Ronald Lee Smith and wife, Mary Ann, of Stanfield and Robert “Gene” Smith and wife, Libby, of Midland; brother, Roy Freeman, of Charlotte; granddaughters, Kim Jowers of Dayton, Ohio, Crystal Elliott of Concord, Robbie Hartsell of Midland and Kerri Clontz of Statesville; and five great-grandchildren.
