Lucille Poplin

Lucille Huneycutt Poplin, 88 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at her home.

Mrs. Poplin was born August 15, 1926 in Stanly County to the late Lester Lonzo Huneycutt and the late Minnie Smith Huneycutt. She was also preceded in death by first husband, Newton Lee Smith; second husband, Hubert J. Poplin; granddaughter, Molly Elizabeth Smith; great granddaughter, Kyndall Stokes; and stepson, James Cecil Poplin.

The family will receive friends from 2pm - 3pm on Friday, May 1, 2015 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Ron Honeycutt and Rev. Scott Atkins, will follow at 3pm in Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel. The burial will be at Liberty Hill Primitive Baptist Church in Oakboro. At other times the family will be gathering at the home of her daughter, Gail Mason.

She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Bowers and husband Lee of Richfield and Linda Gail Mason of Albemarle; son, Terry Lee Smith and wife Dale of New London; step-children, Kenneth Poplin and wife Wanda, David Poplin and wife Ruby, Betty Eury and husband Darryl; grandchildren, Garrett Eugene Lowder, Ava Lowder Mauldin, Christy Dawn Mason, Lisa Ann Tucker, Michael Riley Poplin, Danny Wayne Mesimer, Manda Susannne Harkey; fifteen great-grandchildren; eight great great-grandchildren; and special friend, Betty S. Furr.
