Lucy Johnson

Lucy Land Johnson, 84 years of age, of Norwood, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2016 at The Pines at Davidson in Davidson, NC.

Lucy was born April 26, 1931 in Norfolk, Virginia to the late Harry Lynnwood Land and the late Clarice Isabelle Land Carwile. She was also preceded in death by her two brothers, Elburn Land and Allan Land.

The funeral service will be on Saturday, March 5, 2016, at 10:30 am at First Baptist Church of Albemarle, officiated by Rev. Andy Jung and Rev. Harold McDonald. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall. A family graveside service will follow at Sharon Memorial Park at 5400 Monroe Road, Charlotte.

Survivors include her loving husband of 62 years, Edwin Rushing Johnson (Pete) of Norwood; daughters, Betsy (Jeff) Almond of Mooresville and Teresa (Jak) Farson of Davidson; son, Rush (Cindi) Johnson of Matthews; sister, Dorothy Melton of Greensboro; ten grandchildren, Matt (Ashli) Kemo, Emily Almond, Abby (Guion) Pratt, Kelsey (Alex) Gray, Grace Farson, Sam Farson, Hunter Johnson, Peter Johnson, Parker Johnson, and Mary Elizabeth Johnson; and 16 nieces and nephews.

Lucy was a living reminder of Christ's example to love and serve others. Volunteering for more than 25 years at Stanly Regional Medical Center is but one of the countless examples of her giving nature.
