Lucy Dean Teeter, 90 years young, of Midland, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 7, 2024 in her beloved home surrounded by her devoted and loving family. She was called home early that morning and made whole again by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Mrs. Lucy was born September 21, 1933 in Wadesboro, North Carolina to the late Sanford Benjamin Carelock and the late Sarah Estelle Carelock. Alongside her parents, Lucy was surely greeted at the gates of heaven by her cherished grandmother Ella Sinclair and so many others.
She was also preceded in death by her first husband Conley G. H. Love, second husband Robert Lane Teeter, son George Vernon Love, son John Carl Love, son James Clyde Love, daughter Debra “Debbie” Lynn Love, brother Billy Ray Carelock, brother David Lee Carelock, granddaughter Michelle Huffstetler, great-grandson James Arthur, and great-granddaughter Kristina Webb Castor.
Throughout Mrs. Lucy’s 90 years of life here on earth, she worked all of her waking hours in her store, her gardens, a nursing home kitchen, and her home kitchens ensuring that the people she cared for the most were provided with one of the things she used to show her love the most - food. Homegrown, home cooked meals were a staple in her life. She loved nothing more than feeding her family and friends. She baked cakes and pies and canned her harvests that she labored for. Her gardens were her pride and joy along with her plentiful display of gorgeous flowers, fruit trees, and grape and muscadine vines. Hosting her family, both blood and “adopted”, for every holiday meal was something she and everyone she knew looked forward to. Her Thanksgiving and Christmas feasts were really something to behold. Her cooking was legendary; the love she poured into her meals is something that shall be sorely missed.
Mrs. Lucy was the oldest living charter member at Tabernacle Baptist Church of Oakboro. She loved her church family deeply. She loved to sing in the choir and at home. You could often find her singing hymns at home and reading her Bible. She shared her love for God and his son Jesus Christ with her family, ensuring she did all she could to see each loved one once again when they’re finally called home. She will be waiting for each and every one of them with open arms.
