Lula Helms

Lula B Helms, 91 years of age, of Oakboro, passed away Monday, May 9, 2016 at Trinity Place in Albemarle.

Mrs. Helms was born October 1, 1924 in Anson County to the late Johnnie Allen Broadaway and Hattie Virginia Parker Broadaway. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Clifford Helms and a son, Ronald Dean Helms.

Lula B was a member of Oakboro First Baptist Church and was a Sunday School teacher for over forty years. She owned Bizzie Bee Day Care Center for over thirty years. Her interests included sewing and cooking. She had a deep abiding love for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM, Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Oakboro First Baptist Church, 322 N. Main Street in Oakboro. The funeral service will follow in the church sanctuary at 3:00 PM officiated by Rev. Terrell Watts and Rev. Chip Alsobrooks. Burial will be at the Oakboro Cemetery, 1397 N. Main Street, Oakboro.

Survivors include daughter, Shelbie Davis and husband Jim of Oakboro; son, Neddie Helms of Albemarle; daughter-in-laws, Pat Helms and Eva Helms; grandchildren, Joe Davis, Karen Little, John Davis, Wendy Hinshaw, Stephanie Williams, and Crystal Thompson; and nine great grandchildren.
