Machelle Smith

Machelle Fowler Smith, 54, of Midland, passed away peacefully Monday, August 2, 2021.

Machelle was born May 3, 1967 in Charlotte to Aaron Kenneth Fowler and the late Flora Marie Allen Fowler. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Kenny Fowler.

Machelle was many things to her family, but above all she was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She cherished spending time with her husband, the love of her life. She loved cooking for the family and devoted herself to being a caregiver to those in need throughout her life. Machelle was a committed member of Wilson Grove Baptist and loved her church family very much. She was also a floral designer and greatly enjoyed working with her flowers and garden. She never let cancer define who she was. All her actions were guided by both her relationship with God and her kind heart. She will forever be remembered by her family and friends, and those who were touched by her generous spirit. As a way to celebrate her life, Machelle requested smiley faces to be worn during her service, which will be provided by the family.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Friday, August 6, 2021 at Hartsell Funeral Home, 13575 Broadway Avenue, Midland. The funeral service will be on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at 11:00 am at Wilson Grove Baptist Church, 6624 Wilgrove Mint Hill Road, in Mint Hill officiated by Rev. Rob Mariucci, with a Lie In State prior at 10:30. Burial will follow at the Sunset Memory Gardens at 8901 Lawyers Road, Mint Hill.

Survivors include her loving husband of almost 31 years, Steven Smith of Midland; daughters, Kymberly (Benjamin Petrea) Geiser, Emily (Harrison) Smith Peacock, and Haley (Lucas) Ward; grandchildren, Waylon Petrea and Harper Grace Ward; and her loyal dog Leo.
