Mack Morgan, Iii

Mack Craig Morgan, III, age 79, (80th birthday was to be January 26), of Albemarle, NC, passed away in the early morning hours of December 31, 2022, at Atrium Hospital, Concord, NC.

Craig retired from the Albemarle Fire Department in 2003, after serving 39 years of service to the Albemarle community. He was promoted to Battalion Chief, a position he held until his retirement, while also serving as a lifetime employee of Morgan Motor Company, an establishment his father passed on to Craig and his three brothers.

Craig was preceded in death by his parents, Mack Craig and Eloise Mabry Morgan and a brother, Rodney Morgan. The remaining brothers are Terry and David Morgan of Albemarle.

Craig is survived by wife, Lydia Hearne Morgan; son, Mack, of Hickory, NC; and daughter, Margaret, of Cary, NC.

Lydia and Craig's beautiful love story began many years ago when both were in kindergarten. Their relationship grew, over the years and they were married on February 9, 1964, sharing a life that was exemplary of love, loyalty, and devotion to each other, their children, and their community.

The family gratefully thanks their friends and family members for their love, prayers, and concern for Craig over the years of his declining health for this has brought much comfort to all.

Craig's service will be a private graveside ceremony at the Hearne Family Cemetery on Monday, January 2, 2022, for family members only.
