Madeline Love

Madeline Potts “Pat” Howell Love of Concord passed away April 21, 2015 at the age of 83. She was preceded in death by her husband Billy F. “Bill” Love.

She is survived by her son L. Alan Love and wife Beth of Chesterland, Ohio and their children Laura, Karl and Ryan; son Roger H. Love of Concord and his son Steven; brother John Howell of Concord; brother Tony Howell and wife Becky of China Grove; brother Keith Howell and wife Kathy of Concord. Pat was born September 22, 1931in Cabarrus County, North Carolina to John A. “Adam” Howell and Myrtle Samantha Haigler Howell.

She graduated from Harrisburg High in 1949 and married Bill on November 23, 1949. As she and Bill began their lives together and started raising their family, Pat worked at several different jobs in the Concord area including Johnson Furniture Company and Orkin Exterminators. In the early 1960’s she began to pursue a life-long ambition - to own and operate a cosmetology salon. After attending Concord Beauty School and earning her cosmetology license, she opened her own beauty salon. She operated her salon for many years, training and giving a start to young hairdressers and serving many customers through the years who appreciated her painstaking attention to detail. She also served as a substitute instructor at the Concord Cosmetology College. Pat and Bill enjoyed their beach and lake houses, along with their children and grandchildren, family and many friends. She enjoyed traveling with Bill to the many functions associated with his professional activities. She enjoyed collectables, cooking and baking and working around her house and yard. She always enjoyed hosting annual family gatherings for the holidays at their house.

Pat and Bill were members of Rocky Ridge United Methodist Church for over 45 years. She participated in United Methodist Women activities.

The family will receive at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord on Friday, April 24 at 2 pm with services beginning at 3 pm. The Rev. Tamara Wensil will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.

The family requests that memorial gifts be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County.
