Madge Little

November 20, 1926 — March 31, 2010


Madge Hagler Little, 83, died peacefully at her home on Wednesday, March 31, 2010. She will be remembered as a loving and caring mother and grandmother. A service celebrating her life will be held Saturday, 2:00 p.m., at Arlington Baptist Church, 9801 Arlington Church Road, Charlotte, with pastor Dr. Steve Gandy officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, 7:00-9:00pm at Hartsell Funeral home in Midland and will be at the home of her son, Mike, at other times. Mrs. Little was born on November 20, 1926, in Mecklenburg County and was the daughter of the late George F. and Nellie Simpson Hagler. She graduated from Bain High School. In 2003, she retired from Delmar Printing/Herff Jones after almost 48 years of service in the proofreading department. She loved her church and was a member of Arlington Baptist Church for most of her life. She held a special affection for the ladies of the Daughters of Ruth Sunday School Class. She enjoyed reading, watching a good wholesome movie, and spending time with her family. She will be remembered by many for her excellent cooking. Mrs. Little is survived by her sons, Charles Michael Little and wife Becky, and Richard Van Little; granddaughter, Melissa Lauren Little, all of Midland. She is also survived by a sister, Edna H. Yandle of Mint Hill, NC; a brother, Joe H. Hagler of Locust, NC; 11 nephews and 8 nieces. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband H. D. Little, her grandson Michael Garrett Little, and brothers and sisters; Lonie H. Pope, Nolian H. Pope, Edith H. Long, Dorothy H. Spears, Earl Hagler, Macie H. Theiling, and Jennings Hagler. The family requests that memorials be made to Arlington Baptist Church Building Fund at 9801 Arlington Church Road, Charlotte, NC 28227 or to Hospice and Palliative Care, Charlotte Region, 1420 E. 7th Street, Charlotte, NC 28204.
