Mae Block

Mrs. Mae Kathleen Honeycutt Block, 86, died during the evening hours of Monday, June 28, 2010, at CMC Northeast. The Block family will be receiving friends from 5 to 7 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord on Wednesday, June 30. A funeral service officiated by Reverends James White and Dr. John E. Boyd Jr, will be held at Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity of Mount Pleasant, NC on Thursday on July 1 at 11am. Burial follows at Carolina Memorial Park. Mrs. Block was born June 23, 1924 in Cabarrus County daughter of the late William Reid Honeycutt and Edith Kathleen Eudy Honeycutt. She was a graduate of Mount Pleasant High School and Pfeiffer College (present-day Pfeiffer University). Prior to her retirement in 1992, she worked for forty-one years as a telecommunications manager at Cabarrus Memorial Hospital/CMC Northeast. She was a member of Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity in Mt. Pleasant, NC and a lifelong member of the Republican Party. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Michael John Block Sr. in 1993. She is survived by her son, Michael John Block Jr. and wife, Terry, of Melbourne Beach, FL; brothers, William Reid “Bill” Honeycutt Jr. and wife, Betty, of Mt Pleasant, NC and James David Honeycutt of Albemarle, NC; and granddaughter, Ericka Mae Block of Tallahassee, FL. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Edith H. Eagle in 2010. Memorials may be made to Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity or to a charity of one’s choice.
