Maedene Barbee

Nola Maedene Pate Barbee, 85, of Albemarle, passed away Friday, November 26, 2021 peacefully in her home.

Maedene was born June 11, 1936 in Arkansas to the late Lemmie D. Pate and Naomi Estelle Pate. She was also preceded in death by daughter, Sheila Furr; grandson Adam Furr; brother, Vondell Pate; and sister, Marie Harwood.

Maedene was a director for Love and Care Daycare for many years. She attended Grace Baptist Church faithfully, taught Sunday School, WMU, and sung in the choir for over 50 years. She was a caregiver for her grandson for 15 years. She especially loved spending time with her family and will be missed by many.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 1:45 pm, Tuesday, November 30, 2021. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm at Grace Baptist Church, Albemarle and will be officiated by Rev. Delane Burris. Burial will follow at the Stanly Gardens of Memory, 2001 East Main St., Albemarle.

Survivors include loving husband of 67 years, Melvin Barbee of Albemarle,; grandson, Seth (April) Furr, granddaughter, Erica (Lennie) Hurt; nieces, Carolyn Holt and Debbie Oram-Smith; great-grandchildren, Justin Furr, Mallory Furr and Lexi Hurt.
