Maggie Blake

Maggie Lucille Blake, 84, of Albemarle, passed away Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at Carolinas HealthCare System Stanly in Albemarle.

Lucille was born September 19, 1932 in Johnson County, NC to the late Bertie Watkins and the late Addie Davis Watkins. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Robert Blake, in 2011; sisters, Florence, Pearl, Doris, Ava Watkins; brothers, Wilbert, Raymond, Ray, David, and Robert Watkins.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm, Thursday, February 16, 2017 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Albemarle. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm in the church sanctuary, officiated by Rev. Wayne Lisenby and Rev. Mark Medlin. The burial will be at Stanly Gardens of Memory, 2001 East Main St., Albemarle. At other times, the family will be gathering at her home.

She is survived by her brother, Albert Watkins and wife Becky of Clayton; stepdaughter, Joni James of Albemarle; nephews, Bobby Watkins of Pisgah Forest, Larry Watkins of Hendersonville; niece, Ivey Watkins Palmer of Sparta, WI.

Lucille was a fine seamstress for many years. While living in Germany she worked as an assistant at a daycare. She also worked for the Fayetteville School System. She was a loving and wonderful wife, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be sorely missed by all those who knew her.
