Biography Mamie Lee Benton Irvin, 82 years of age, of Concord, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2017 at Carolinas HealthCare System Stanly in Albemarle.

Mrs. Irvin was born April 23, 1935 in Cabarrus County to the late Ellis S. and Myrtle Williams Benton. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Harold H. Irvin, and one son, Harold Michael Irvin. Mamie retired from CHS Northeast in Concord, where she worked in the Patient Accounts Department. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Concord for over 40 years, where she taught Sunday School and worked with the Vacation Bible School Department. Mamie was also the church organist during this time, also working with the choir and the special music department, playing for numerous funerals and weddings. She was known for her love of the church and music, and through music she ministered to the local nursing homes.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm, Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Hartsell Funeral Home Concord. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm in Hartsell Funeral Home's Chapel officiated by Rev. Bob Page of Immanuel Baptist Church, Concord. Burial will conclude in the Howell's Baptist Church Cemetery located at 3800 Baptist Lane, Concord.

Mamie is survived by a sister, Mary Benton Kimray (David deceased) of Concord, NC; brothers, Jimmy L. Benton (Libby) of of Concord, NC, Charlie S. Benton (Dorane) of Casar, NC.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Woodhaven Assisted Living for their tireless effort and loving care.
