Marcus Carriker

Marcus Clausell Carriker, 86, of Locust, passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2010, at Carolinas Medical Center NorthEast, Concord. Mr. Carriker was born July 26, 1923, in Midland, Cabarrus County. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Barbee Carriker; mother, Maude Carriker; and father, Stacy Carriker; two brothers and two sisters. He retired from Cannon Mills in Kannapolis after 40 years in the towel department and was the owner of Carriker Photography in Locust for 50 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Locust. Visitation will be Friday, 6 – 8 pm, Hartsell Funeral Home, Midland. The funeral will be Saturday, 11:00 am, First Baptist of Locust, with a 30 minute state, officiated by Dr. Kinney Wallace. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. At other times the family will meet at his home. Survivors include his daughters, Gail Turner and husband, Ken, and Freida Hinson and husband, Ronnie, both of Locust; grandchildren, Starla Turner Williams, and husband, Eddie, Kendra Turner Shaver, Shanna Turner-Meehan, and husband, Dan, Tiffany Hinson Barbee and husband, Jon, and Dane Marcus Hinson; four great-grandsons; and brother, Leon Carriker and wife, Helen, of Kannapolis.
