Margaret Patricia “Pat” Mackin Lee McLaughlin, 88, passed away on Monday, March 12th, peacefully, in her home surrounded by family with thanks to The Hospice & Palliative Care of Charlotte. The family would like to give heartfelt thanks to Erika Lloyd who made it possible for her to be cared for at home. Per Pat’s wishes she will be cremated and have a Funeral Mass to celebrate her life at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 1400 Suther Road, Charlotte, NC 28213 on Friday, March 16th at 11 am. Family will receive friends at the church after the service. Pat was born on February 15th, 1924 in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Hugh Mackin, Jr. and Irene Thornton Mackin Harbaugh. Pat was also preceded in death by her first husband of 28 years, J.D. Lee and her second husband of 37 years, Russell Dwight “Mac” McLaughlin, Jr and step-daughter, Sandy M.Crosby. Pat is survived by her five children, Dennis Lee and wife Dianne, Jim “J.D.” Lee and wife Pat, David Lee and wife Linda, Peggy Lee Shirley and husband Jim, Jane Lee and husband Dan Bennett; Pat is also survived by her stepchildren, Jewel “Sissy” Owens and husband Chris, Ben McLaughlin and wife Diana, Denise M. Ball, Joy M. Mauldin, and son-in-law Jim Crosby. Pat also leaves behind a much-loved sister, Betty Ann Swineford and sister-in-law’s Patsy Nance, Lucille McLaughlin and a brother-in-law, Lank Lee. She will be missed by her numerous grandchildren and greats, nieces, nephews and greats. Pat was a WWII veteran of the United States Navy. She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Charlotte. She was an active member of The Hunter Sloan American Legion Auxiliary Unit #0287 and also Circle #3 of Back Creek Presbyterian Church.
