Margaret Smith

Margaret Loraine Smith Smith, 94 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at Stanly Regional Medical Center in Albemarle.

Loraine was born May 5, 1921 in Stanly County to the late Raymond Alexander Smith and the late Frances Lillie Basinger Smith. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Tom Smith; brothers and sisters, Bryce Smith, Owona Earnhardt, Carrie Earnhardt, Audrey Elvene Smith, Gladworth Smith, and Betty O'Neil Kimrey.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Friday, November 20, 2015 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Wayne Richardson, will be at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Oak Grove Baptist Church. She will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service. The burial will follow at Stanly Gardens of Memory.

Survivors include son, Tommy Smith and wife Jeannette of Raleigh, NC.

Loraine was a charter member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. She loved God and her church. She attended church as long as her health permitted. She loved going to the senior nutrition site and riding SCUSA. Her favorite hobbies were crocheting and crossword puzzles.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to her neighbors, Wayne and Harriett Brooks, and special cousins for their loving care. The family would also like to thank the staff at Stanly Manor for their compassionate care.
