Margaret Janette Tallent, a cherished beacon of love and faith in her community, aged 87, departed this life on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and unwavering love.

Born on December 7th, 1936, in the heart of South Carolina, Margaret was the treasured daughter of Arthur Carl Durham and Jessie Durham, both of whom have predeceased her in death. Her journey through life was one marked by deep connections and enduring love, notably with her beloved husband, Fred Tallent, to whom she was devotedly married to for 58 glorious years until his passing. Margaret also bid farewell to her brothers, Bud and Larry Durham, and mourned the loss of Cody, her adored poodle, who was more than a pet but a true companion.

Margaret's legacy is one of boundless love and service. As a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she poured her heart into her family, guiding and nurturing them with a strength and tenderness that will be forever remembered. Her commitment to her faith and community was evident through her active participation as a charter member of the Friendship Southern Baptist Church of Concord. Her service extended beyond the church walls as an auxiliary member of The Gideons for 35 years, showcasing her unwavering faith and dedication to spreading the word of God.

Her life was a tapestry of service and joy, from her days as a den mother for the Cub Scouts, where she played a pivotal role in shaping young minds, to the countless hours spent cheering on her grandchildren at various sporting events and performances. These moments were the jewels of her life, each memory a treasure she held close to her heart. Margaret's involvement with the senior members of her church highlighted her compassionate spirit and unwavering commitment to her community. It was within membership of her church that she met her dearest friend, Verla Horton who grew to become of a sister to Margaret.

The twilight years of Margaret's life were brightened by the laughter and love of her great-granddaughters, with whom she shared her wisdom, love, and cookies, creating memories that will echo through generations. Her faith in the Lord was her guiding light, a source of strength and comfort throughout her life and in her final moments.

Margaret leaves behind a legacy of love and faith through her sons, Mike and his wife Beth Tallent, Jeff and his wife Melissa Tallent; her grandchildren, Jessica and her husband Scott Carpenter, Justin and his fiancée Alexis Tallent, Jacob and his wife Meagan Tallent, Tiffany and her husband Madison Hastings; great-granddaughters Ruby Carpenter and Gabby Hastings.
