Margaret Thompson

Margaret Ruth Blanton Thompson, 85, of Marshville, NC, passed away Saturday, October 1, 2011, at the Rehabilitation and Nursing Center of Monroe. Mrs. Thompson was born January 10, 1926 in York, S. C. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Brayley Thompson in 2007; her father, Earnest Ervin Blanton; her mother, Carrie Margaret Blanton; four brothers and one sister. The family will receive friends from 1 – 2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 5, at Shiloh Advent Christian Church with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 in the church sanctuary. Rev. Margaret Helms will officiate with burial following in the church cemetery. At other times, the family will meet at the home of her daughter, Donna Stegall. Survivors include her son, Arthur Lynn Thompson of Monroe; daughters, Donna Stegall of Marshville and Shirley Threet and husband, Marvin, of DeQueen, Arkansas; sisters, Deloris Watts, Bonnie Carter, Nellie Maness, and Barbara Henry all of Lancaster, S. C.; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Memorials may be made to Hartsell Funeral Home, Margaret Thompson Account, P. O. Box 100, Midland, NC 28107.
