Marie Faggart Hartsell, 96, passed away on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at Shaire Center in Lenoir after a long illness. She was born to James Franklin and Bessie Litaker Faggart on October 2, 1913 and lived in Cabarrus County most of her life. Mrs. Hartsell was preceded in death by her husband Hal Craig Hartsell, Sr., and brother Guy F. Faggart. Mrs. Hartsell is survived by a sister, Ethel F. Overcash; sister-in-law, Evelyn S. Faggart; children, Hal Craig Hartsell, Jr. (June), Patricia H. Clark (Larry) and David W. Hartsell (Gerri); 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Hartsell was a lifelong and faithful member of Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church. She lived her faith in all aspects of her life and appreciated having been reared by Christian parents. Her children are all indebted to the values she passed on to them. Mrs. Hartsell was a kind and gentle lady who was loved by everyone in the community. She loved gardening and raising flowers. She was an early conservationist. Like many of her generation, she started tomato plants from seed and saved other seed from this year’s crop to plant the following year. A visitation will be held at Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at 1 PM followed by the service at 2 PM, with the Rev. Shirley Harrison, associated pastor of Augsburg Lutheran Church in Winston Salem officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Hermon Lutheran Church Cemetery. Hermon Lutheran Church 3600 Hwy 601 South Concord, NC 28025, to Lutheran Services for the Aging, Lutheran Home at Trinity Oaks, 820 Klumac Road Salisbury, NC 28144 or to Caldwell County Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood, Lenoir, NC 28645.
