Marie Burris Smith, 82 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Friday, November 20, 2015 at Stanly Regional Medical Center.
Marie was born October 28, 1933 in Stanly County to the late Lawrence Arthur Burris and the late Lemmie Jane Burris Burris. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Ray, Hoover, and Lawrence A. Burris, Jr; and sister, JV Whitley.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Monday, November 23, 2015 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Lakeview Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Tab Whitley. She will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service. The burial will follow at Stanly Gardens of Memory, 2001 East Main St., Albemarle.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, Bill Clayton Smith of the home; daughter, Janet Gray of Albemarle; son, Brian Clayton Smith and wife Cristy of Albemarle; two grandchildren, Daniel Gray and wife Cara Jean of Grayslake, IL and Madison Grace Smith of Albemarle.
Marie was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a faithful Christian and member of Lakeview Baptist Church. She was well loved by all who knew her.
