Marie Thompson

Marie Elizabeth Furr Thompson, 88, formerly of Stanfield, passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2012 in Autumn Care of Shallotte, NC. Mrs. Thompson was born March 23, 1924 in Stanly County to the late Willie Shuford Furr and Naomi “Oma” Elizabeth Sossamon Furr. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Marvin D. Thompson on June 24, 2007. The Thompsons lived in Stanfield for many years before moving to Shallotte. Mrs. Thompson worked in quality control at Blaine Hosiery at Locust and was a Sunday School Teacher. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m., Thursday, December 20, 2012 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Friday, with a 30 minute state prior to the service, at First Baptist Church in Locust. Rev. Kenny Wallace and Rev. Tommy Ross will officiate with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Survivors include her son, Kenneth “Ken” Thompson, of Supply and her sister, Willie Chadwick of Ocala, Florida. Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland is serving the Thompson family.
