Marie Vanderburg

Mrs. Marie Algene McClure Vanderburg 88 of Simplicity Road Concord passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at Transitional Health Services in Kannapolis. Marie was born on September 25, 1921 in Cabarrus County to the late Lawson McClure and the late Lillie Lefler McClure, also preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years Jesse B. "J.B." Vanderburg. Marie always had a kind word for everyone. All the nurses at Transitional were touched by her kind and up-lifting spirit, all of them were like her children. The family is very grateful to the staff at Transitional for their love and concern during the last six months of her life. Marie was a spiritual leader to others including her family, but especially her grandchildren Michelle Cleveland and Michael Vanderburg. The last years of her life were devoted to her great-grandchildren Allyson, Nickolaus, Abigail, Elijah, and Annabelle. We will miss this very special person, but are happy that she is now with her Lord. A visitation will be held at Oak Ridge Baptist Church on Saturday, December 26, 2009 from 12:30 until 1:45 PM. Funeral services will follow at the church at 2 PM, with the Rev. Jimmy Hall and Rev. Michael Vanderburg officiating, with burial following in the church cemetery. Marie’s pride and joy were her children: son, Michael Lane Vanderburg of Charlotte; daughter, Wanda K. "Kay" Chaney of Concord; brother, Charlie McClure; sisters Sadie Eudy, Edith Turner, Marcel Cox and Oseda Clontz.
