Marie Wilhoit

Marie Hatley Wilhoit, 92, passed from this life Thursday, February 3, 2011, at Tucker Hospice House. Daughter of Samuel McKee Hatley and Cara Strube Hatley, Marie was born November 8, 1918, in Newell, NC, at the home of her maternal grandparents, Joseph Lee Strube and Ann Falkenbury Strube. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Jennings Wilhoit. Marie graduated from Concord High School and was a homemaker, formerly living on Walnut Avenue, Concord, NC. She is survived by daughter, Frances W. Tallent and husband Robert, of Concord and son, Darrell J. Wilhoit and wife Cindy of Orange, Texas; three grandchildren, Deborah T. Wilson and husband Dale, Rev. Bobby Tallent and wife Lisa, and Melissa T. Biggers and husband Rob; nine great- and eight great-great¬grandchildren, all of Cabarrus County; three sisters, Edith Hatley Utley of Kannapolis, Ruby Jean Hatley Furr of Concord and Pauline Hatley Cruse of Ocala, Florida. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 3:00 pm Sunday, February 6 at Hartsell Funeral Home, Concord. The funeral service will be at 3 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home’s Chapel officiated by Rev. Bobby Tallent, Gethsemane Baptist Church, Concord, and Rev. John Mark Beam, St. Enoch Lutheran Church, Enochville. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Concord. The family wishes to thank the staff at Five Oaks Manor and the Hospice Care team and staff of Tucker Hospice House.
