Martha Collins

Martha Elsie Collins, 84 years of age, of Concord, passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Carolina's Medical Center-NorthEast, Concord. Ms. Collins was born August 21, 1929 in Jonesville, Virginia to the late Jessie James and the late Daisy Gibson James. She was also preceded in death by husband, Oscar E Collins and her son, Charles Collins. The family will receive friends Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord from 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm. The funeral service will follow in the chapel at 2:00 pm, officiated by Rev. Kenneth Simpson and Rev. B. Scott Davis. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis. Survivors include son, Joe Collins and wife Becky of Concord; daughter, Imogene Collins Simpson and husband Rev. Kenneth Simpson of Manteo, NC; stepson, Ransom Collins; eight grandchildren, Gina, Todd , Ginger, Crystal, Meranda, Clint, Patricia and Shasta; ten step-grandchildren;, 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Betty Jo Ousnamer of Florida, Billie Howard of Concord; and brother, Frank James of Indiana. Martha was married to Oscar for over 51 years and she loved her family and her grandchildren dearly and loved to cook for them. Martha was a C.N.A. and private duty nurse for many years and was very involved with Pitts Baptist Church. Friends are welcome to visit with family at Mr. Collins home, 9260 John White Road, Concord, NC. Memorials may be made to Pitts Baptist Church, 140 Pitts School Road NW, Concord NC 28027.
