Martha Lemons
July 19, 1931 — February 3, 2017
Martha Geraldine Mabry Lemons, 85 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Friday, February 3, 2017 at her home in Albemarle.
Geraldine was born July 19, 1931 in Stanly County to the late Clarence Lauren Mabry and the late Geneva May Russell Mabry. She was also preceded in death by husband, James Darrell Lemons; brother, Clarence Haywood Mabry; and sister, Lucille Mabry Stevens.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service officiated by Rev. Beau Linker will be at 1:00pm , Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Badin United Methodist Church, 18 Hickory St., Badin. Geraldine will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow at the Fairview Memorial Park, 1425 East Main Street, Albemarle.
She is survived by daughter, Lydia Lemons Wenning; son in law, Michael Thomas Wenning; grandchildren, Emily, Malena and Benjamin Wenning, all of Charlotte.
Prior to working as a bookkeeper for the Central N.C. Council of Boy Scouts of America for 43 years, Geraldine worked at Efird's Department Store. She was actively involved as a member of Badin UMC, the Sunshine Club, and volunteered at the Senior Center in Albemarle.
Geraldine was known to be a great cook and was famous for her fried chicken and sourdough bread. In spite of various health issues through the years, she found the strength to do small things with great love. She will be remembered as a "friend to all". May you rest in peace, Ms. Geraldine.
