Martha Harward Lowder, 79 years of age, formerly of Albemarle, passed away Sunday, February 14, 2016 at Life Care Center of Palm Bay, Florida.
Martha was born November 20, 1936 in Stanly County to the late William "Doc" Harward and the late Dora Lee Efird Harward.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Aaron Lowder, in 2004.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Friday, February 19, 2016 at Hartsell Funeral Home-Albemarle. The funeral service will be on Saturday at 11:00 am at Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel in Albemarle officiated by Rev. Harold McDonald. Burial will follow at Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Survivors include three daughters, Sherry (Lindsey) Dunevant of Albemarle, Carole (Jim) Smith of Burlington, and Paula (Steve) Widener of Palm Bay, FL; one son, William (Debi) Lowder of St Petersburg, FL; seven grandsons, Brett (Cameo), Grant (Holly), and Caleb (Jessica) Smith; Charles (Summer) Dunevant; Aaron and Anthony Lowder; and Alex Widener; three granddaughters, Catherine (Joey) Dunevant Pipkin, Sarah and Adrienne Widener; four great grandsons and two great granddaughters.
Martha had a great love for children and found joy in serving as a teacher's assistant in the Stanly County School System. She and her husband, Aaron, developed friendships across the state as Western Square Dance Association Callers. A devoted caregiver and mother, Martha will be remembered for her kind spirit and self sacrificing character.
