Martha Tidd

Mrs. Martha Ann Lipe Tidd, age 69, of Concord, NC, crossed over on May 9, 2011, meeting Jesus, her first love. Martha was born on August 23, 1941 at Cabarrus Memorial Hospital, Concord, NC to Hugh and Maggie Lipe. She is also preceded in death by her sisters, Peggy Blackwelder, who passed away August, 2010 and Dennie and her husband Ralph Fesperman, who both passed away January 2011. Martha attended Victory Temple in Rimertown, NC and was a homemaker. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at Hartsell Funeral Home, Concord from 7 until 9 PM. A funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM on Friday, May 13, 2011 at Hartsell Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Gary Posey and Hospice Chaplain Rick Durham officiating. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Joseph Tidd, of the home; sons, Julius and Brett Tidd and his fiancée, Jennifer Halter; grandchildren, Julius Jr. and Jeremy Tidd; great grandson, Julius III; and her brother in law, Ray Blackwelder. Martha and her family moved to Newport News, VA when she was 13 and a few years later she met and married the love of her life, Thomas Tidd who had been serving in the US Navy since 1961. Martha and her family lived from Maine to Florida during Tom’s career in the Navy. When he retired from the Navy in 1993, they moved back to Concord, NC.
