Marvin Benton

Marvin Archabuil Benton, 70, of 1009 Spruce Street, Albemarle, NC passed away on July 11, 2011 at Stanly Regional Medical Center. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Wednesday, July 13 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, July 14 in Hartsell Funeral Home’s Lefler Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Stanly Gardens of Memory. Rev. Larry Hopkins and Rev. George Mullen will officiate the services. Military Honors will be conducted by The Stanly County DAV, Chapter 12. Mr. Benton was born in Richmond County on May 22, 1941 to the late Marvin Benton, Sr. and Annie Mae Pankey Benton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Christopher Whitley. Mr. Benton is survived by his wife of 51 years, Charlotte Delores Thompson Benton; daughters, Shelia Rich and husband Johnny of Oakboro, Cindy Benton, Tammy Bowers and husband Eddie, Tonya Benton, all of Albemarle; brother, Donald Benton of Albemarle; sisters, Joyce Almond, Bonnie Lee, both of Oakboro, Lois Rhinehardt of Albemarle, Carolyn McPherson of Norwood; grandchildren, Brian Whitley, Todd Whitley, Jessica Rich, Megan Braswell, Hayley Braswell, Katelyn Braswell, Ashley Davis, and Cody Davis.
