Marvin Ira Dayvault, 90 years of age, of Concord, passed away Saturday, October 4, 2014 at the VA Hospital's Hospice House in Salisbury, NC.
Ira was born August 17, 1924 in Concord, to the late Marvin Caldwell Dayvault and the late Annie Marie Shinn Dayvault. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Grace Lucille Heglar Dayvault on December 3, 2007.
Mr. Dayvault proudly served in the United States Army and was discharged in 1945 with service disability. He was an active member at Forest Hill United Methodist Church in Concord, where he taught Sunday School and also sang in the Singing Saints Choir. In his spare time he enjoyed studying genealogy, doing crossword puzzles and was one of the best story tellers around.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 8, 2014 from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. Funeral services will immediately follow visitation in Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park Mausoleum in Kannapolis, with military honors provided by Cabarrus County Veteran's Honor Guard.
Survivors include his daughters, Wanda Joy Dayvault of Concord, Gina Dayvault Ware and husband Clark Ware of Concord; granddaughter, Carly Marie Ware of Concord, Haley Nicole Ware formerly of Concord currently residing in South Korea.
Memorials may be made to the VA Medical Center, 1601 Brenner Ave., Salisbury, NC 28144 in care of the Community Living Center or the VA Hospice.
