Marvin Porter

Mr. Marvin Wilson Porter , age 86 of 587 Camrose Circle NE, Concord passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2009 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis, NC. Born on August 17, 1923 in Cabarrus County to the late Monroe Wilson Porter and the late Lillie Porter. Also preceded in death by three sisters, and one brother. Mr. Porter graduated from Hartsell High School, and was a member of the former McKinnon Presbyterian Church, where he was a Deacon and an Elder of his church. He was a retired salesman with Kelley Auto Parts in Concord. Mr. Porter was also a member of the former Wil-Mar Lions Club. The family meeting place will be the home. A visitation will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home-Concord on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 from 11 AM until 12 Noon. Funeral services will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel in Concord following the visitation at 12 Noon, officiated by Bryan Hovey. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Pallbearers for Mr. Porter will be Frankie Hartsell, Justin Hartsell, Jerry Talley, Ernest Cole, Richard Canter, and Wayne Thompson. Survived by: wife, Iris Porter of the home; daughters, Rebecca Whitley of Concord, and Suzanne P. Haubenreiser of Pinehurst; brothers, Billy Porter of Mint Hill, and Robert Porter of Kannapolis; grandchildren, Angela Hartsell, Kimberly Talley, Meredith Grice, and Megan Haubenreiser; five great-grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.
