Marvin G Widenhouse, ll, of Charlotte, passed away on the morning of November 8, 2022, after having a stroke a few weeks before.
He was born on January 26, 1950, to Marvin and Ginny Hartsell Widenhouse. Older sister Kate Widenhouse Robinson left us in 2004 at age 70, brother Donald Furr Widenhouse passed on June 9, 2021, at the age of 81, Gail Widenhouse Baruth is writing this notice at age 76.
One day, a long time ago, Gail was staying with her Big Mama and two aunts, Polkie and Idie. Gail asked where her mama was…they told her she went to the hospital to get a little “Boy Blue”, the name stuck. Thus, some people knew him as “BLUE”. Marvin loved adventure of all kinds. He loved the beach, fishing, sailing, diving, camping, skiing, traveling, or just going to the K&W. Marvin was an avid backgammon player, and loved playing with the Charlotte Backgammon Club.
Recently, he frequented Badin Lake in the summer, and was definitely a part of the Rob Wallace Park “Family”, walking and riding his bicycle, talking to all he met. We will all miss him.
Living family members include sons, Brent and Andy; sister Gail; nephews Shem Broome and Ron Carriker; nieces Trilby Carriker and Gabriella Swearingen; and our cousin Margaret Oktavec.
We invite all who loved Marvin to join us in a Celebration of Life to be held on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2022, 1:00 p.m. at Center Grove Methodist Church, 8055 Hwy 200, Midland, NC. We will share funny stories and have a loving time!
