Mary Basinger

Mary Elizabeth Hobbs Basinger, 81, of Locust, NC passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2023.

Mary was born October 22, 1941, in Davidson County, NC to the late Leo Arvil Hobbs and the late Edith Snyder Hobbs.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Larry Hobbs.

Survivors include daughter, Shelley Hancock and husband Jeff of Locust, NC; daughter, Joy Basinger Robinson of Locust, NC; grandsons, Clint Fisher, Luke Robinson and wife Angela, and Shane Hancock; great grandsons, Jacob and Jack Robinson, and Weston Fisher.

Mary retired at age 79, having worked for 30 years delivering Peterbilt truck parts and driving up to 300 miles everyday. She was a very dedicated employee and truly loved all of her customers.

Mary, better known as "Tiger", was a very kind and giving lady. She enjoyed spending time at Badin Lake with family and friends. In younger days, she loved surf fishing at Carolina Beach.  She spent time every night reading her Bible, and enjoyed baking cakes for her church events.Tiger was loved by everyone, and touched each person in a special way. Her kind and loving soul will be missed by everyone.

A Service Celebrating the Life of Mary Basinger will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at 4:00 pm, at the Rocky Ridge UMC, in Concord, NC. The family will receive friends at 3:00 pm, prior to the service.
