Mary Collins

Mary Magdalene Collins, age 86, of Concord, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Wednesday, December 22, 2021.

Mary was born, March 3, 1935 in Union Co. She graduated from Indian Trail High School.
Mary was a faithful Christian who enjoyed studying her Bible and was always found in the early morning hours on her knees in prayer. These prayers sustained her family. She devoted her life to staying home and raising her children and then caring for the grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with family.

Mary will be remembered for her steadfast belief in God and her unwavering need to share the gospel with everyone she came in contact with. Most of all, Mary was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and special friend to many.  She will be dearly missed and forever loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Joe and Nora Broome, brother Joe (Buck) Reid Broome and granddaughter Amy Christine Rutledge. Mary is survived by her husband of 62 years, Franklin Collins of Concord, brother Billie Broome (Charis) of Franklin, sister Margaret Dermid (Victor) of Union Co., sister-in-law Brenda Broome of Cabarrus Co. and children, Sam Collins (Mae Nell) of Concord, Noel Collins (Sharon) of Charlotte, June Collins Rutledge (John) of Harrisburg, Scott Collins (Karen) of Dalzell, SC, 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 am - 10:45 am, Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Harrisburg.  The service in celebration of Mary’s life will follow at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel, officiated by Rev. Victor Dermid, Jr., Mary's nephew.  The chapel service will also be webcast at the follwing link: https://video.ibm.com/channel/drygeSYpxX7 .  Burial will follow at Forest Lawn East Cemetery in Matthews.
