Mary Crater

Mary Carolyn Crater, 76, of Concord, passed away Sunday, March 23, 2014 at First Assembly Living Center under Hospice Care.

Carolyn was born January 27, 1938, in High Point, NC, the daughter of Duncan and Delphia Wafford. She is preceded in death by her brother Darrell Lester Wafford. Carolyn was a caregiver for ten years and a homemaker for twenty years. She was a pastor’s wife and loved the outdoors especially birds and flowers and also cooking shows.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years Rev. Dr. Jackie Lee Crater, Sr.; son, Jackie Lee Crater, Jr. of Mebane, NC ; daughter, Amanda Crater Hicks (Thomas) of Mt. Pleasant; grand-daughters, Morgan Grogan Smith (Ryan) of Champagne, Ill; Carolyn Grogan Carpenter (Ricky) and Maribeth Hicks of Concord and one great-grandchild Logan Carpenter and the remainder of the Carpenter Family.

“A Celebration of Life” for Carolyn will be at the home of Maribeth Hicks, 131 Miller Ave., SW, Concord, NC on Thursday evening from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
