Mary Darden

Mary Frances Darden, 102, of 203 Old Salisbury Road, Richfield, NC passed away on June 22, at her home. A memorial service will be held Friday, June 24 at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church at 4 PM. The family will receive friends after the service. Rev. Ruth Ann Sipe will officiate the service. Ms. Darden was born in Stanly County on October 22, 1908 to the late Charlie and Annie Lee Misenheimer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Darden; brother, Charles P Misenheimer; and sister, Helen Lasley. During her life, she taught home economics in Stanfield for five years. She then moved to Washington County, NC where she worked as the Home Economist until she retired to Richfield, NC. Ms. Darden is survived by her nephews, Charles G. Misenheimer, James P. Misenheimer, Robert J. Misenheimer, all of Richfield; and nieces, Jane Parker of Virginia, Jackie Gonzales of Wilkes County, NC, and Frances Lanier of Statesville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Zion Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 111 West Church St., Richfield, NC 28137.
