Mrs. Mary Frances Graeber Hatley, 89, passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2011 at Tucker Hospice House, Kannapolis. She was born on December 27, 1921 in Concord, NC to the late Clarence and Sadie Litaker Graeber. Mary Frances was a graduate of Concord High School, class of 1939. She retired from Craftsman Finishers after 35 years. Mrs. Hatley is preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Lee Hatley, Sr., who passed away May 10, 2000 and sisters, Margaret Moore, formerly of Concord, Pearl Sossaman, formerly of Baltimore, MD, and Sadie Barbee, formerly of Concord. Mary Frances was a lifelong Lutheran attending St. Martins and Calvary Lutheran, where she was active as a Sunday school teacher and a choir member. She was well known for her homemade mints, which won her blue ribbons at county fair. Her other hobbies included 150 rose bushes, which she cared for diligently, often giving bouquets to others for their enjoyment. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. A visitation will be held at Hartsell Funeral Home, Concord, on Sunday, January 16, 2011 from 3:00 until 5:00 pm. A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 17, 2011 in the chapel of Hartsell Funeral Home at 1:00 pm with the Rev. John Merck officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery. At other times, the family will be meeting at the home of her daughter, Jane Hinson at 31 Eastcliff Drive, Concord. She is survived by her son, Lee Hatley and wife, Becky; daughter, Jane Elizabeth Hinson and her late husband, Doug, of Concord; grandchildren, Scott Hatley and wife, Minda, of Greensboro, Tim Canup and wife, Elizabeth, of Concord, Beverly Barbee and husband, Steve, of Kannapolis, Britt Hatley and wife, Caryn, of Warrensburg, MO, and Shaw Hatley and husband, Manuel, of Arlington, TX; great grandchildren, Will and Dalton Hatley, of Greensboro, Andrew and Alex Canup, of Concord, Victoria and Blake Barbee, of Kannapolis, and Addison Hatley, of Warrensburg, MO.
