Mary Freeman

Mary “Renie” Freeman, 82, of Concord, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2012, at Avante in Concord. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 10, 2012, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord. The funeral service will be held in the chapel on Wednesday, January 11, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. Rev Lewis Whittington and Bishop Mark Benton will officiate. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. Mrs. Freeman was born on September 7, 1926, to the late Samuel Houston and Jessie Mae Mills Whittington. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dan Freeman; four sisters, Lilly Mae Honeycutt, Winnie Hudson, Dorothy Whittington and Betsy Hyde; three brothers, Samuel Junior Whittington, Harvey Whittington and Bobby Whittington; and a granddaughter, Stephanie Ennis. She is survived by a son, Danny Freeman; a daughter, Linda Cranford; a sister, Lillian Carter; and a brother, Donnie Whittington, all of Concord; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
