Mary Hatley

Mary Jewell "Susie" Smith Hatley, 86 years of age, of Locust, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2014 at her daughter's home.

Susie was born August 25, 1927 in Stanly County to the late Vander Lee Smith and the late Leether Burris Smith. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, O.D. Hatley in 2009.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Tuesday, March 18 , 2014, at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle. The funeral service officiated by Rev. Irvin Houser will be at 7:00 PM, Tuesday, March 18, 2014 in Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel in Albemarle.

She is survived by daughters, Wendy Helms and husband, Irving of Locust and Gwen Waldrup and husband, Jim of Boiling Springs; son, David Hatley and wife, Pam of Charlotte;11grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; brothers, Harold Gene and Roy Lee Smith; sisters, Mildred Bunting and Marie Paden.

Memorials may be made to Alzheimers Association, 3800 Shamrock Dr, Charlotte, NC.
