Mary Ramelle Barbee Hinson, 84, passed away on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at her home in Frog Pond. Born Mary Ramelle Barbee, daughter of the late Luther and Lizzie Barbee on August 2, 1929, she is survived by one brother, Jerry Barbee and wife, Libbie, of Albemarle; two sisters, Betty Whitley of Oakboro and Lucille “Tink” Bagley and husband, Glen, of Goldsboro, N.C. The Celebration of her Life will be held at 4:00 PM, Friday, June 13, 2014 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Dr. Wayne Bennett officiating and burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service in the church Fellowship Hall. Floyd, her husband of 64 years, preceded her in death in 2009. She was blessed with three sons: Terry, Sr. and wife, Fran, of Frog Pond; Van and wife, Bronnie, of Oakboro; and the late son, Danny, whose wife, Brenda lives in Albemarle. She has six grandchildren, Michelle Tucker, Terry Hinson, Jr., Dana Ramsey, Mandy Morgan, Kristy Burris, and Rodney Hinson. She has sixteen great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild. Ramelle worked for many years at Stanly Knitting Mill and Federal Pacific Electric Corporation, but enjoyed varied interests and talents. She created beautiful quilts and needle works, loved reading and collecting fancy dolls and figurines, and flying (earning a solo pilot’s license), and motorcycling. Most of all, she loved “doing” for her beloved family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Hospice of Stanly County, 960 North First Street, Albemarle, NC 28001. Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Hinson family.
