Mary Irving

Frances Rakestraw Irving, 87 years of age, passed away Thursday, February 12, 2015 at her home in Concord.

Mrs. Irving was born March 11, 1927 in Rockingham County, NC to the late Giles Dallas Rakestraw and the late Mary Lucy Rakestraw. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Fred Amos Irving, Sr.; as well as four brothers and one sister.

Survivors include her son, Fred A. Irving, Jr. (Carie) of Concord; daughter, Debra Smith (Wayne) of Suffolk, VA; daughter, Amanda Knox (Buster) of Cornelius; five grandchildren; as well as her brother, Garland Rakestraw and sister, Shirley Joyce, both of Stoneville, NC.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, February 15, 2015 at 2:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel of Concord, with visitation immediately following the service. Burial will precede the service at 1:00 pm at Carolina Memorial Park, Kannapolis.

The family would like to express their gratitude to her special caregivers for their devoted service.
