Mary Layton

Mrs. Mary Lee Thompson Layton, age 72, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at her home. She was born on September 26, 1938 in Stanly County to the late Roy Otto and Rebecca Lee Almond Thompson. Mrs. Layton was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church and a retired admissions clerk from NorthEast Medical Center. Mary was also a substitute teacher for the Cabarrus County School system for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandson Tyler and going to the beach. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 8, 2011 at Hartsell Funeral Home, Concord from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at Friendship United Methodist Church, 4695 Mt. Pleasant Road, South, on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at 2:00 PM following a 30 minute state with Rev. Dale Bost to officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family welcomes friends at the home at, 2225 Hahn Road, Mt. Pleasant. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Ray Layton and daughter, Brenda Layton, both of the home; son, Darrell Layton, and grandson, Tyler Layton, both of Mt. Pleasant.
