Mary Manfre

Mary Catherine Manfre, age 86, passed away peacefully on January 18th at Five Oaks Manor after several years of declining health. She was the daughter of Warren Gentry Mart and Nettie Mae Mart of Richmond, VA. Mary was born November 5th, l927 in Louisville, KY but lived most all her life in Richmond, VA . She later moved to Concord, NC to be near her family. She worked for Thalhimers and Miller & Rhodes Department Stores in Richmond for many years. She was a devoted wife, a warm and loving mother and a gentle grandmother who loved and cherished her family more than anything. She was wise and deeply spiritual and loved art, music and poetry but she especially enjoyed people and good conversation. She will be greatly missed by those who knew & loved her kind and caring spirit. She was Catholic and had been a member of St. Bridget’s Roman Catholic Church in Richmond VA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Phillip James Manfre, sisters Ella Mae Dunn of Richmond, VA, Nixie Waters of Midlothian VA, Leuna Dabash of Melborne, FLA , Betty Jones of Amelia, VA., and a brother, Warren Gentry II “Sonny” of Richmond, VA. She is survived by daughter Frances R Drautz and husband Mark of Concord NC, daughter Donna E Manfre of Charlotte NC and son Joseph P Manfre and wife Gabrielle of Stockton, CA. Also, grandchildren Matthew Drautz and wife Aimee, Casey Drautz, Lindsay Drautz, Christine Drautz of Concord, NC and Nicole Manfre of Stockton, CA and 5 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at 7:00pm in Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord Chapel. There will be another service in Richmond, VA to celebrate the memories of Mary’s life. Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord is handling the arrangements.
