Mary Mathis

Mary Elizabeth Mathis, 95, of Concord, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2020 at home with her loving family at her side.

Mary was born June 20, 1924 in Luling, Texas, to the late Mack Henry Kight and the late Grace Naomi Cook Kight.  She was also preceded in death by beloved husband, James William Mathis; daughter, Cheryl M. Caldwell; infant son, James Darryl Mathis; brother, David Kight .

Mary was lovingly raised in Corpus Christi, TX.  She lived most of her life in Charlotte.  Mary was a loving mother and grandmother, and a great prayer warrior.  She will be forever loved and dearly missed.

Survivors include daughter, Jamie E. Greene (and husband, William G.) of Church Hill, TN; daughter, Jayne M. Cook (and husband, William R.) of Charlotte, NC; Cynthia N. Irvin (and husband, James D.) of Concord, NC; grandchildren, Rhonda Potter of Charlotte, NC, Darryl Caldwell of Charlotte, NC, Dawn Trivette (and husband, David) of Rogersville, TN, Heath Greene (and wife, Angela) of Church Hill, TN, Shane Greene (and wife, Sabrina) of Rogersville, TN, Telisa M. Redding (and husband, Joe) of Bradenton, FL, Marshall Cook (and wife, Elizabeth) of Mount Holly, NC, Kaitlyn Irvin of Concord, NC, and Nicole Irvin of Concord, NC.  She is also survived by great-grandchildren, Alisha Pedersen (and husband, Andy), Stephanie Davis (and husband, Tyler), Kenneth Potter; Rosemary, Shannon, Skyler, Makayla, Dawson and Ivory Trivette; Leah and Taylor Greene; Austin Greene; and Dylan Mathis; great-great grandchildren, Eli Davis, Paisley and Hudson Carter, and Jewel and Ellie Burleson.; and sister-in-law, Ellen Kight, niece, Nora L. Kight, and nephew, James Neal, all of Corpus Christi, TX.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am - 11:45 pm, Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at New Grace Baptist Church, 1160 Warren Coleman Blvd, Concord.  The funeral service will follow at 12:00 pm, officiated by Rev. Allen Montgomery.  Burial will follow at the Forest Lawn West Cemetery, 4601 Freedom Dr, Charlotte.
