Mary Shoemaker

Mary Bruton Shoemaker, age 95, of Albemarle, passed away Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Bethany Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation. The family will receive friends at Badin United Methodist Church, Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at 11:00 am. The funeral service will follow at 11:30 at Badin United Methodist Church. Rev. Laura Hamrick will officiate and the burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Park. Born June 17, 1917 in Montgomery County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Frederick Allen Bruton and the late Muzetta Haywood Bruton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Russell Shoemaker in 1997. She is survived by her son, John Shoemaker and wife Willa of Albemarle; daughter, Ellen Hardy and husband Dr. J. Gregg Hardy of Greenville, NC; grandchildren, Monica Armstrong, Kelly Deans, Karen Suarez, Brooke Hardy, Jordan Gross; great grandson, Lucas Suarez; sisters, Sarah Albright of Troy and Anne Haywood of Knoxville, TN. She was a homemaker. Memorials may be made to Badin United Methodist Church, PO Box 746, Badin, NC 28009. Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Shoemaker family.
