Mary West

Mary Della West, 90, of 210 Burtonwood Circle, Ovilla, TX passed away on April 6, 2011 at Duncanville Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Duncanville, TX. Mrs. West was born in Holiday, Pennsylvania on July 13, 1920 to the late Dwight and Charlotte French. She was preceded in death by her husband, Basil Darrow West. They were married in Wellsboro, PA on January 26, 1945. Mrs. West was a homemaker and Mr. West was a dairy farmer in Osceola, PA before they moved to Troy, NC in 1970. They moved to Albemarle, NC in 1980 after Mr. West retired from dairy farming. Mrs. West continued to live in Albemarle after the death of her husband in 1987 until moving to Texas with her daughter, Margaret, in May, 2009. Mrs. West is survived by her children: Kathleen Elizabeth Randall of Candor, NC; Christine Ann Karns of Knoxville, PA; Margaret Larraine Cooper of Ovilla, TX; Sherrie Lee Glasgow of Mansfield, OH; David Darrow West of Troy, NC; Paul French West of Troy, NC; Philip James West of New London, NC; sixteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Monday, April 11, from 6-8 PM at Hartsell Funeral Home, Albemarle, NC. The service will be held Tuesday, April 12, at 2 PM in Hartsell Funeral Home’s Lefler Memorial Chapel with Rev. Arlen Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Stanly Gardens of Memory.
