Mary Zimmer

Mary Sunshine “Sunny” Baxter Zimmer, 91 years of age, of Midland, passed away Friday, June 26, 2015 at CMC - NorthEast in Concord.
Sunny was born June 16, 1924 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to the late Rev. Chester A. Baxter and the late Ruth Watson Baxter. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rev. Dwayne Bruce Zimmer, Sr.; brother, James W. Baxter; and half-sister, Cecie Parker.
The family will gather to celebrate her life at 11am on Saturday, July 4, 2015 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland.
She is survived by her sons, Steven Zimmer (Debbie) of New Orleans, LA, Kevin Zimmer (Karen) of Waterford, MI, and Bruce Zimmer, Jr. (Patricia) of Nashville, TN; daughters, Cheryl Shore of Midland, NC, and Lori Blackburn (Keith)of Oak Ridge, NC; grandchildren, Jacob Zimmer, Brian Shore (Brittni), Jessica Blinde (Neal), Michael Zimmer (Ashlee), Janice Little (Greg), Tyler Zimmer, Clay Zimmer (Ali), Spencer Zimmer, Chris Zimmer, Alyssa Blackburn, Angela Laye (Kevin), Jessica Barton (Mike); great-grandchildren, Brayden Zimmer, Brylee Zimmer, Arden Blinde, Norah Blinde, Walker Zimmer, Caitlin Laye, Lacie Hunt and Myra Barton; and family-in-love, Mary Barnes Zimmer; and half sisters, Betty Back (Don) and Evelyn Thomas (Paul), and countless other cousins and loved ones.
Sunny never met a stranger, and she opened her heart and home to anyone and everyone. She was appropriately named since she had such a “sunny” disposition and outlook on life. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Jefferson, NC.
