Mary "Dene" Efird, 77, of Locust, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 31, 2021.
Dene was born September 14, 1944, in Albemarle to the late Boyd and Mary Little. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Hal Efird; sister, Danielle Griffin; and brothers, Ronald, Robert, and Richard Little.
Dene spent a great deal of her life playing softball, which she loved. She loved her church family at Central Station Cowboy Church and singing on the Praise Team. Dene enjoyed playing cards with her sisters all the time. She loved and cared for her pet chickens. Most of all, Dene loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed and forever loved.
Survivors include daughter, Renae (Jeff) Crayton of Locust; grandchildren, Kelli (Robbie) Denton of Locust, Kyle (Whitney) Crayton of Oakboro, Becka Crayton of Locust; great-grandchildren, Hali and Kase Denton, Ty, Walker, and Judah Crayton; sisters, Delores Whitley, Deanna Freeman, and Doris Moore; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service for Dene will be held on Sunday, January 9, 2022, at 2:00 pm, at Central Station Cowboy Church in Midland, officiated by Pastor Jeff Smith. The family will receive friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central Station Cowboy Church Building Fund, 11777 Hwy 601, Midland NC 28107.
